We need like-new beds and dressers

We are out of beds and dressers. We gave the last of our twin beds last weekend to a church’s transitional housing program getting ready to open. They can still use a couple more dressers too! We are looking for Twin & Full sized beds mainly. Please no hide a beds or trundle beds. If you have a bed in pretty good shape, no tears or stains please call our office to arrange a pick up!  253-531-2365

Reduced staff in 2009 by 37%

This year we ended up reducing staff by about 37% which for a small non profit was 3 employees. We are down to very essential positions that all work on behalf of those in need, from the receptionist that takes the first call, to two intake advisors who screen and talk to over 300 families a month and our Clearinghouse Manager who trains all the volunteers that help us and works with the churches via email to coordinate help for our families in need. We can sure use your support and know that there are many good non profits you could choose to give to. We are blessed to have committed ministry partners who continue to be faithful and support in any way they can. We are very blessed by all the help we have gotten this year from a handful of very committed churches and we are very thankful for your participation and help as we work together to help those in need.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Staff hours reduced by 50%

It’s with a very heavy heart that I had to tell the staff this week that we have to cut our salary expenses by $7000 a month. To do that, it is 50% of their already part time income. I currently have 6 people who work with over 300 families a month that are referred to us by networking churches and agencies. Normally the Office Mgr Judy is paid 30 hours(single woman supporting herself), Sarah an intake advisor, is paid 30 hours (single mom raising 4 young kids, no child support, Lisa another intake advisor paid 12 hours a week and volunteers another 20 every week, Cyndi our receptionist who is paid 15 hours and volunteers another day at the office, Sjannie who is paid 18 hours a week to help as receptionist and coordinate volunteers and Joan who is paid 10 hours and works on the follow-up calls to see how people are after we’ve talked to them and tried to find them help. This staff who is so dedicated to local missions work and helping those in need will continue to work as much as they can to help you help those in need, but some of them cannot survive with under 15 hours of pay to support themselves and their families and may have to find more employment or leave us altogether for a place that can pay them what is fair so they can support their families.

The staff have been told that for those who can still work some of their hours they aren’t paid for that they may be able to get compensated if extra donations come in over our normal $7000 a month of income. I believe God will provide, He always has. He provides through people who’ve been moved by His spirit to give to support our local missions work. For that to happen, His people have to hear about our problem. So it’s my job to get the word out and pray you will help me.

This is a current crisis for needs now. I know some of you are having hard times yourself. I know others are saving funds for a bigger building, better sound systems, educational wings, all of which are good and will benefit the kingdom one day. I’d just like to ask you to consider doing what you can to help us make an impact on the Kingdom now. Kind words of encouragement are great, but we need financial support. Many people tell us we are doing God’s work, and the church needs this ministry and how we bring the churches together to help meet needs no one church could meet alone. (Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.) I pray many will back up their words by sharing the treasure if at all possible.

We need volunteers to step in to help on the phones and on the computers if we are to be able to keep up with the heavy load of people the churches are referring to us to find help for. Please share with your congregation of our great current need. God will move the hearts of who he chooses. This is His ministry.

Thank you for doing what you can. I would be glad to give your leadership teams or anyone who wants to know a copy of our Profit and Loss statement so you can see our Financials. Donations can be sent to our physical address at 9116 Gravelly Lake Dr. S.W. #B4 Lakewood, WA 98499 or to our Postal Mail box at P.M.B # 286 10611 Canyon Rd. E. Puyallup, Wa 98373

Urgent Needs July 2009

You all know the economy has many non profits struggling and Love INC is no exception. Our average basic monthly expenses are about $16,000.  Our Average income is between $6000-$7000 and the way we’ve made up the difference in the past is through our annual fundraiser early in the year.  This year that fundraiser, while attended by about 400 people, still wasn’t able to bring in the total money needed to supplement our donations and we find ourselves with about 2 1/2 months of reserves left. Summer months historically have the lowest giving months and so we feel the need to broadcast to our community our need for financial support to make it through to our October fundraisers. We are having a Breakfast fundraiser then, as well as a Bowling Fundraiser.  If you can help with any amount please send your donations to our Mailing address at P.M.B.#286  10611 Canyon Rd. East   Puyallup, WA. 98373

In a few days you will also be able to donate to us directly online through a new pay pal system.

We currently are getting over 300 calls per month of people in need and we try to help meet those needs, or be there for them in what ways we can. Together we can do so much more then any one of us alone.

Blessed to be a blessing,

Sherry Phinisey
